Here are several tips for using search on MedOne:
1. Type a term into the MedOne search bar which is available on every page.
2. For more refined e-book filtering, click the sub-topic, title, or author/editor tab from the e-book view.
MedOne offers a fully searchable database of hundreds of e-books. When in the e-book view, there are tools available to help you navigate. You can easily search within the book or add e-book content to a custom “playlist.” E-book chapters can also be printed or downloaded as PDFs. Read e-book content directly in your browser or switch to the reader view and adjust the font size. The list below summarizes MedOne e-book functionality:
1. Under the cover image you will find the table of contents. The plus icon, when clicked, opens chapters or sections.
2. If you want to download PDF copies of chapters, click the PDF icon (top right). A new window will open with your selected document. This also enables you to print your e-book chapter.
3. The reader icon takes you to the reading view. In the reading view, all menus and buttons are hidden, allowing you to focus on the content you wish to read. You can also customize the font size to your needs.
4. The yellow star lets you add the entire e-book or e-book chapters to a playlist.
MedOne offers an extensive library of high-quality images and detailed surgical videos. These are linked from within books, but also available to search and display on their own. From the MedOne home page, click the images/video/audio tab, and enter a search term in the search bar. Select the image that you wish to view, by clicking the top left box of the image. You will now see an expanded view of the image with legend. While in the expanded view, you can further increase the image size or rotate the image by simply clicking the appropriate navigation tool.
You may share images with colleagues by exporting to PowerPoint. This is easily done from the image view by selecting the PowerPoint icon on the top right section of the screen. Depending on your browser, the open / save /dialog box will appear, or the PowerPoint file will automatically be saved in the downloads folder on your computer. The PowerPoint file contains the image with legend and source.
